Welcome to the glorious Green Mountains of Vermont. Located in the heart of the Mad River Valley and nestled along the river, our elegant, relaxing Inn is your starting point for exploring the Valley's breathtaking beauty and its palette of activities all four seasons of the year.
From
our doorstep take a stroll to the river and pick wild raspberries
along the way. If you choose, the Mad River Recreation Path is just behind
the Inn and meanders for miles along the river with pastoral views of
dairy farms and distant mountains.
In Spring life unfolds here, as the grass turns green and the trees begin to look like a pastel painting. Flowers appear at every turn, and nesting and migrating birds fill the air with motion and song. Invigorate your spirit with a hike on the Long Trail to picturesque Sunset Rock, or guide a canoe or kayak along the rushing Mad River.
In Summer refresh yourself in one of our local waterfalls or swimming holes, or try a round of golf at Sugarbush's famous 18-hole course, designed by Robert Trent Jones. Our quiet country roads and trails invite road and mountain cycling. Make a wish as you walk through one of the Valley's covered bridges, and amble through the Saturday Farmers' Market for produce fresh from the field, locally-made crafts, foods, and live music. On Independence Day, follow the crowd to the Warren Fourth of July Parade. In August, the Festival of the Arts offers a wealth of choices for every taste.
In Autumn take a horseback ride and enjoy the splendor of nature's magnificent color wheel, go antiquing, soaring, or visit the Inn's own pumpkin patch.
In
Winter throw on your cross country skis for some brisk exercise
right out our back door. Nearby Sugarbush
Resort boasts the East's best ski terrain with two connecting mountains
and the challenging Mad
River Glen. For a change of pace try snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice
skating or a peaceful sleigh ride through the fields. When the steam rises
from the maple sugaring houses, enjoy "sugar on snow" as winter turns
to spring.
At any time of year, two sports centers offer year round tennis, racquetball, sauna, steam room, massage, indoor swimming and the latest exercise equipment. The Valley is rich in galleries and shops for antiques and exquisite artisans' crafts. The performing arts are alive with music and theater of every description, and the Valley is renowned for the incredible cuisine of its many restaurants. The world famous Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory is just 20 minutes away, Montpelier is a half-hour drive, and Lake Champlain is less than an hour away.
After a long day's adventure come back to the Inn for our daily afternoon tea, the lights go dim and soft classical music fills the air. Choose your favorite tea and cup from the Inn's private collection of antique china. Savor your beverage in front of our cozy fireplace.
